ABOUT ME

My name is Borja. I've been on 14 cruises, traveled to 18 countries (and lived in some of them), and stepped off the ship in Rome four times.
And on every one of those cruises I've watched the same scene play out for so many travelers: buffet, pool, a bus tour with a sticker on your chestโฆ and back to the cabin with an "okay, that was nice." And that's it.
That's what I call the autopilot cruise. And there's nothing wrong with it. It's just not what I'm after.
I choose the cruise line based on what I want to experience, not on price. I go ashore with my own plan. I know which specialty restaurant is worth it and which one isn't. And I've come across things you'll never find in a brochure, like a stand-up comedian from Mรกlaga performing in the ship's theater in the middle of the Norwegian fjords.
I'm writing these lines from my 14th cruise, sailing all the way up Norway to chase the northern lights (and I've already caught the first one). Next on my list: Japan, a river cruise through northern Europe, the Nile and many more.
What I've seen, what I've learned and what I've gotten wrong on every cruise. No brochure, no travel agency and no last-minute deal.
How to choose the cruise line, cabin and itinerary that fit the way you travel.
What to do in each port in a single day, without missing the ship.
What really happens on board: food, shows, tips and what costs extra.
Usually, the person telling you about cruises is the person selling them: someone who wants you on one cruise in particular. All I want is for you to go on every cruise in the world. Because, trust me, you'll remember them.
If you're looking for the cheapest cruise of the year, you won't find it here. I don't talk about bargains. I talk about trips you'll remember.
If you don't like traveling, don't leave me your email, because if you do, every day I'll convince you that your next trip should already be on your calendar.
